![]() ![]() There also exist artifacts, which grant various kinds of buffs to the player such as electric or chemical protection, usually in exchange for an almost equivalent sacrifice the player has to make in another one of the 10-odd statistics, such as bulletproof cap or explosion protection. Almost each ammo calibre has 2-3 variants as well, such as sniper rounds or armour penetration rounds. In Shadow of Chernobyl, there exists a complex RPG-style tier system for weapon calibres, which starts at your standard 9x18 mm pistol rounds, to 9x19 mm SMG rounds, to the 5.45 mm Warsaw Pact rifle calibre, to the 5.56 mm NATO calibre to finally, the heavy 9x39 mm subsonic rounds that only a few weapons chamber (not included 7.62 mm sniper rifle rounds and 12 gauge shotgun). The guns also take into account their range, which makes bullets disappear after they surpass their intended range. The ballistics are realistic, taking into account bullet drop and the fact that guns aren't accurate 100% of the times even in real life. The first couple of hours of the game are an absolute nightmare no matter how good a gamer you are, and that's an intended design choice. I'd start off by saying that its reputation as being a tough game is not without merit. In the almost 37 hours I played the game, I did not encounter a single bug, but I'd rather attribute that to my luck than the game being polished, because most players who went vanilla seem to have encountered at least a couple. ![]() Also, worth noting is that I played it vanilla, in spite of everybody suggesting that one should at least install ZRP (bug fixes mod). As suggested by everybody on the subreddit and on YouTube, I played it on the highest difficulty (Master) and disabled crosshairs. ![]() Finally got around to playing it after having bought it more than half a year ago, and I didn't regret a single dime, or a single second I spent on it. I had been hearing a lot about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series for a while, especially because of all the Anomaly (and GAMMA, to a lesser extent) content floating around on YouTube and other places. ![]()
